Well-Rounded Skills

I spent my early years of ad agency life as a traffic manager, while doing every bit of production art, graphic design, and art direction that I could. I was promoted to Art Director eleven years ago and have been growing creatively ever since. I spent four years at a larger ad agency focusing on project management, brand strategy and campaign execution, which gave me a more in-depth understanding of branding across all customer touch-points.

I’ve seen the process inside-out and upside-down, from every angle. My various roles have taught me to step back and see not just the finely-tuned details of the design, but also the bigger picture of how the design tells a brand's story. I've walked clients from an abstract request into a well-executed campaign, so I really understand how a brand's identity works when it leaves the studio and heads off into the real world.

My Story

For as long as I can remember, I have been grounded in creativity. It is the one thing that made me feel the most like myself. Crafting, painting, doodling, it didn’t matter; as long as I was creating something that didn’t exist before I sat down to make it, I was happy. When I discovered graphic design in college, I was blown away. Art, that I could make anywhere, anytime, with just a computer! I knew I had found my calling. And over the past 15 years I have dialed in on my favorite form of expression: logo and branding design.

Logo and branding design combines two things I enjoy most: the problem-solving challenge of boiling down a complicated idea (a brand’s essence) into its most simplistic visual form, and the application of color theory to communicate personality. I believe people are driven by connection, and they look for brands they can connect with on a personal level. I love to dive deep into my clients’ understanding of what their brand is and what they want it to become, and then interpret that into a visual identity that communicates exactly who they are to their customers and fans. For me, good graphic design is about connecting brands to the people who need to find them.

When I am not designing, I am usually chasing after my four sons, who keep us very busy! We bounce from sports practices to play rehearsals and everything in between. They help me see the color and beauty in every-day life! My husband and I are also suckers for a good home improvement project, so things stay pretty messy around here.
