Entergy Nuclear
Entergy Nuclear is a subsidiary of Entergy which owns and operates a fleet of nuclear power plants. Employing over 9,000 professionals across nine plants, they were faced with the task of unifying the employees under one mission and purpose through a rebrand of their on-site installations and collateral pieces.
Client: Entergy Nuclear
Scope: Brand Execution and Graphic Design support
Overview
Though their corporate logo already existed under the parent brand Entergy, Entergy Nuclear did not have an extended brand to apply to their materials, and they knew their internal communication efforts needed to be attractive and memorable to increase employee buy-in on the company's safety initiatives. They sought a rebrand to communicate a more modern brand personality that was positive and encouraging, focusing on their greatest asset: their people.
The rebrand was to begin with a large-scale install of the branding at their headquarters and follow with smaller, portable and easily-changable installations at each of the nine nuclear plant sites. The rebrand needed to highlight the most essential asset of the company: its people, and needed to be visually appealing enough to compel the employees to read each poster, every day, while at work. It was imperative that each employee know, and be reminded often of, the vision, mission, values, and safety priorities of the company.
I developed a bold brand color palette intended to stand out against the more muted walls of the power plants and developed icons and graphics to represent their key focus areas. Each is easily identifiable by its color, icon and photography. I visited each power plant with a photographer in order to site-specific employees on each sites' materials, to foster a sense of unity when those employees saw faces they recognized on their own posters and materials. The branding and photography was also featured on the Entergy Nuclear Strategic Plan book, which was distributed to every employee and communicated their mission, vision, and key values and the application of those across the fleet. For Entergy Nuclear Headquarters, we installed 6-foot-tall acryllic panels all the way around the lobby between the first and second levels and 6-foot-wide acryllic panels lining the employee's entrance, in addition to multiple pull-up banners, large-framed posters, placemats, mousepads, and elevator signs throughout all six floors of the building.
The communications push was successful and received positive reception by employees at all ten sites. The company has continued to maintain the framed posters and acryllic panels, updating them as needed with new employee photos and updated business goals.
