Formerly Exceptional Writing Coach, LLC, Notable Academics & Admissions is professional tutor focused on empowering teenagers to achieve the competency and self-confidence needed to succeed academically and personally. With a website that wasn't converting customers, she realized her company had outgrown its original logo and needed a professional, targeted rebrand to take her tutoring company to a higher level.

Scope: Brand Strategy, Brand Naming, New Visual Identity for Established Brand (Rebranding)

Overview

With an expertise in English, writing, and history (particularly AP-level), she coaches her students throughout middle school, high school, and through the college selection and admissions process. The breadth of specialties she offers is a communication challenge itself, as her services fall under three pillars, each with their own audience. EWC needed a name and a brand that brings clarity to her messaging and simplifies the customer's journey.

Challenge

Our research indicated that, among other things, the very name of the company was confusing; She was receiving requests to help with adults writing novels, rather than students needing tutors, and very few people knew of her astounding expertise in the college admissions process and how to write a strong admissions essay that revealed the whole person of the student. In addition, EWC was receiving feedback that their logo and website did not convey a professional quality.

Solution

To address the confusion caused by the company name, we rebranded it to Notable Academics & Admissions, in order to convey both the quality and the range of the services offered. I crafted a logo mark utilizing a traditional serif font familiar to her high-end, often Ivy-League-level clients, which contains a very bold N and two more subtle A's created by the negative space between the N and the pencil points. The pencils in the logomark, tagline and brand elements allude to the genre of services provided, as writing is the common element among her three main services offered, and the watercolor elements were incorporated both to communicate a high-end feel and to convey the creativity needed to create bespoke systems and approaches for each student she serves. The colors were chosen to convey both trustworthiness and optimism, two essential features of a good tutor and coach.
