SwingStopper
Daniel and Alisha George invented the SwingStopper to solve a problem they ran into consistently while inshore fishing: not having anywhere to store their weight, bait and hook while the boat was in motion. They needed a complete brand strategy, logo, visual identity, packaging design, website, the whole shebang, in order to bring their product to market.
Client: SwingStopper

Overview
SwingStopper was invented out of necessity, when they could not find anything pre-existing on the market. As such, the competition is slim and indirect, but the fishing accessories market is still robust. SwingStopper's brand needed to grab the attention of anglers along the Gulf Coast and beyond, and convert them into loyal customers.
Since nothing existed on the market that solved the particular problem SwingStopper was created to solve, there is a significant education factor that their marketing needed to take on, making the customer first aware of the problem itself and then aware of SwingStopper as something they need. Further, their brand needed to cut throught he noise of the fishing accessories market and get noticed by their target market.
After conducting significant research, it became apparent that this particular audience, anglers on the Gulf Coast, gravitated towards bright, bold, often neon colors, despite being a mostly male audience. Taken from the bright colors of the fish themselves, as well as the lures, fishing line, and brightly colored shirts and gear often worn by fishermen, we developed an energetic palette featuring snapper red and sea green as the main stars and deep blue, orange and a light blue as supporting colors.
For the logo, we wanted to express motion and innovation. The slightly slanted script font creates that feeling of motion, which is enhanced by the extended tail of the “g”, which has been extended to represent the fishing line of a rod, with a weight and hook on it. The weight and hook help tell the story of a fishing line swinging freely and uncontrolled, which references the problem solved by the SwingStopper.
The brand icons were developed with the same clean lines as your logo, featuring simplified versions of items commonly found while deep sea fishing: rod, lure, and hook, and an additional element that mimics the shape of the SwingStopper itself, and the brand patterns were specifically designed to provide visual interest and catch the attention of anglers, while referencing the colors and elements they’d see on a typical day on the water.
The branding proved to be a success; once the site launched, sales continued to pick up, despite being off-season in the dead of winter. Further advertising efforts are in effect to draw in more customers as fishing season approaches!
